Why do we have ridges on the roof of our mouth?

My child asks TONS of questions everyday. Anyone have any insight on this one?Why do we have ridges on the roof of our mouth?
They are called palatal rugae. No one really knows what the significance is. The bone underneath doesn't have these rigdes so it is a soft tissue thing. what is weird if you remove that tissue it will grow back with the ridges. So it does nave a genetic component. Why do we have ridges on the roof of our mouth?
Pizza burns ?
They are there for speech reasons
Beacuse God made us that way. Tell your children that to every cuestion that they ask lol. ';Mom, Can you help me with my homework'; your respond, ';Beacuse God made us that way'; LOL.
