When we get new teeth in, why do they have ridges in them?

I remember losing teeth, and then getting new ones back with ridges in them...but as I got older, the ridges just kind of disappeared? Why are there ridges in them?When we get new teeth in, why do they have ridges in them?
you needed something to cut through your gums that way that your teeth could grow out. so as long as they went away your fine.When we get new teeth in, why do they have ridges in them?
Those ridges on the edge of the teeth are called mamellons. It is part of the normal anatomy of a tooth. As you got older and chewed and grind ed your teeth, they were worn away.
There are ridges so the teeth can break through your gums. The ridges go away after awhile.
