What does it mean if you have vertical ridges in your fingernails ?

I've notices lately that my fingernails have vertical ridges like a corugated box. I know it has something to do with your health ...lacking something but I'm not sure what. Any ideas ?What does it mean if you have vertical ridges in your fingernails ?
I have read that it is a sign of heart trouble and then pick up another publication that says that is not true. So your guess is as good as mine. What does it mean if you have vertical ridges in your fingernails ?
i am a cosmetologist that learned about this in school and im taking this right out of my book...what u have are called furrows(indented vertical lines down the nail plate). Cause:Injury to the matrix that causes cells to reproduce unevenly; can be nutrition, injury, or illness related;pushing too hard with pusher during nail service or exposure to harsh chemicals.

Prognosis:Easily recognizable;may grow out;may be permanent.

Treatment: Lightly buff;apply base coat or ridge filler to protect and even out surface.

have u hurt ur nail lately? if u banged it or hit or or n e kind of injury has occurred to it lately it could be from that or have u gotten a manicure lately? if u damaged the nail matrix it will be permanent, if u just injured it when it grows back in it could grow back in normally.
