How many ridges are on the side of a dime and a quarter?

Why are they on those two coins ?How many ridges are on the side of a dime and a quarter?
The years ago, most coins were made of precious metals such a gold or silver. The ridges are to prevent people from filing some of the metal off of the edge. The Nickel and Penny were not made of precious metal and so did not require ridges.

BTW- those ridges are called reeding or reeds. .How many ridges are on the side of a dime and a quarter?
The Pony Express lost just 1 rider. It lasted only a short time as the railroad (Transcontinental) was completed and made the Pony Express redundant.
118 on a dime

119 on a quarter
I think it's for blind people
Who knows? I want to know.
On the side? Two - one on each side.
